Overview
In this session participants will delve into the significant yet often overlooked mental health gaps in cancer care. This program focuses on enhancing healthcare professionals' capabilities to recognize and address the psychological challenges cancer patients face. Participants will gain insights into effectively utilizing resources available within healthcare systems and communities to better support their patients. The session will cover the profound psychological impacts of cancer, such as distress, psychiatric morbidity, and the fear of cancer recurrence, emphasizing the critical role of mental health management in improving patient outcomes.
Target Audience
This CME initiative was designed for oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, NPs, PAs, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.

Faculty
Michelle Lee, PsyD
Dr. Lee received her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in health psychology and interprofessional education from Pacific University. She completed an American Psychological Association-accredited Clinical Health Psychology internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Her skills emphasize evidence-based approaches to support cancer patients in managing their symptoms and treatment side effects, bolstering their emotional wellbeing as they navigate cancer treatment and survivorship, and improving outcomes during and after cancer treatment. She enjoys working closely with a team of multidisciplinary providers to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
