Overview
Enhancing understanding of ocular toxicities associated with chemotherapy is crucial for effective patient care. This course focuses on the clinical implications of ocular side effects from chemotherapy agents like BRAF/MEK inhibitors, immune checkpoint inhibitors, and antibody-drug conjugates. Participants will learn to identify and manage common ocular adverse effects supported by evidence-based monitoring protocols and patient education strategies. The training will emphasize early symptom recognition, the implementation of suitable management strategies, and the value of a multidisciplinary approach to optimize patient outcomes.
Target Audience
This CME initiative was designed for oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, NPs, PAs, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.

Faculty
Miranda Benfield, PharmD, BCOP
Dr. Miranda Benfield is a dedicated Gynecologic Oncology Pharmacist with a passion for mentoring and advancing the field of cancer care. After completing her undergraduate studies at NC State University and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Wingate University School of Pharmacy, she pursued her residency training at Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center/Levine Cancer Institute, where she served as a PGY1 and PGY2 resident. Following her residency, she stayed on as a Gyn Oncology Pharmacist, focusing on patient care and education. With expertise in gestational trophoblastic neoplasms, endometrial cancer, and advanced cervical cancer, Dr. Benfield is committed to staying at the forefront of her field. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with her husband Corey and beloved dog Lizzie.
