Overview

This program aims to empower oncology Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) with a comprehensive understanding of clinical research. Designed to address the unique needs of APPs, this session explores the significance of clinical research in oncology, delves into the various phases of clinical trials, guides participants on finding relevant trials for their patients, and elucidates the reasons behind treatment and monitoring adjustments post-study.

Target Audience

This CME initiative was designed for oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, NPs, PAs, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss the details of clinical research and why they are important to the oncology APP
  2. Describe the different phases of clinical trials
  3. Identify where and how to find clinical trials for your oncology patients
  4. Explain why there are changes in treatment and monitoring after a study has concluded

Jerrelee Hollings, PharmD

Jerrelee Hollings is an Investigational Drug Study (IDS) pharmacist and the Program Coordinator for the PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency at Banner University Medicine’s University of Arizona Cancer Center in Tucson, AZ.  Dr. Hollings graduated from the University of Arizona Pharmacy program and went on to complete a PGY1 Pharmacy residency at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System in Las Vegas, NV and a PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy residency at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in Tucson, AZ before starting her career at Banner University Medicine’s University of Arizona Cancer Center where she worked as an oncology staff pharmacist and a oncology clinical pharmacist for solid tumor prior to becoming an IDS pharmacist.
